You get a decent range of ports for a MacBook, too – one HDMI, three Thunderbolt 4, an SDXC card slot, an audio jack and one MagSafe 3. Our reviewer spent some time working on a 3D title sequence in After Effects, while simultaneously running Photoshop and Premiere, and it didn't bat an eyelid. Our benchmark tests kicked up some really impressive numbers too, confirming that this performance boost wasn't just in our minds. It contains "immense amount of power", our reviewer noted. So what does that all mean in practice? Well, we road-tested the 14-inch MacBook Pro (2023) with an M2 Pro chip, 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD, and its performance was blisteringly fast. The M2 Max chip has a GPU with up to 38 cores and, Apple says, offers 30% better graphics than the M1 Max. The M2 Pro chip features a 10- or 12-core CPU with up to eight high-performance and four high-efficiency cores, which Apple claims delivers 20 per cent greater performance than its predecessor, the M1 Pro. That means they'll breeze through resource-hungry tasks like video editing, image editing, 3D rendering and 3D modelling. It comes with the choice of an M2 Pro or M2 Max chip, both of which knock the socks off anything previously offered by a MacBook in terms of sheer processing power. If you want to do video editing on the move, this is our top pick from Apple right now. Audiophiles can also check out our guide to the best laptops for music production. Meanwhile, whichever laptop you end up picking, you'll want to use the best video editing software that best fits your requirements. If you can't find one that fits your budget or exact requirements, though, check out our pick of the best laptops for video editing overall, which also includes some Windows alternatives. Macs aren't cheap, but the best Apple deals might make them more affordable. Performing our own tests on video download and upload speed and rendering is only part of the process, as we've also taken on feedback from our contributors on how it is living and working with each machine to gauge their strengths and weaknesses (to learn more, read how we test laptops, PCs and workstations). Each device has the specs required for video editing, and have been tested for this task using benchmark tests like Cinebench. Our experts have evaluated Apple's current range to choose the best Mac for video editing making sure we cover the latest releases as soon as we can get them in for thorough testing. This warrior was Kazuya Mishima, Heihachi's cold blooded son. But only one lone warrior emerged with the right to challenge Heihachi Mishima for the title of King of the Iron Fist. A large purse of prize money which was to be awarded to the fighter who could defeat Heihachi Mishima in the final round provided incentive for warriors from all over the globe.įinanced and sponsored by the giant financial groups, the Mishima Zaibatsu, the first Tekken tournament began with eight fighters, all of whom had emerged victorious in death matches held all over the world, all motivated by different motives, all possessing the skill and power to crumble mountains. In 1997, PSM named the PlayStation port of Tekken 2 one of the "Top 25 PlayStation Games of All Time" at number three, describing it as "better than the arcade version" in many regards due to added features, and "one of the best fighting games ever".Ī worldwide martial arts tournament was nearing its finale. Tekken 2 placed 59th on Game Informer's "Top 100 Games of All Time" in 2001 IGN, which rated the game 9 out of 10, also praised the game's graphics and light sourcing. GameSpot, which gave the game 9.2 out of 10, praised the game's graphics and fluid character movement. Electronic Gaming Monthly awarded it Best Arcade Game of 1995. Tekken 2 was well received, with a current 93% rating at Game Rankings. The game was also released for mobile phones in 2007 As of system upgrade 1.70, Tekken 2 can now also be downloaded onto and played on the PlayStation 3 and on Zeebo. However, multiplayer options have been removed. Tekken 2 is available for PlayStation 3 users to download onto the PSP. The PlayStation 2 version of Tekken 5 features the arcade version of Tekken 2 (Ver. It also contained remixed music, like the port of the first game.Ī port of the arcade version of the game was included in the 2005 release of Tekken 5 on the PlayStation 2 along with Tekken and Tekken 3 as part of the games "arcade history" mode and to commemorate the games tenth anniversary. Aside from unique CGI endings for every character, it featured numerous modes such as Survival, Time Attack, Team Battle, and a Practice Mode. Tekken 2's port to the PlayStation is considered to be vastly superior in content to its arcade counterpart. It had opening day sales of 250,000, which was a record at the time. Aside from winning rave reviews from the critics, it was the number one arcade game in America for 24 straight weeks and sold 3,000,000 copies worldwide on the PlayStation console. Released in arcades in 1995, and was released for the PlayStation in 1996 worldwide. The game features 25 playable characters. Eight new characters were added to the character roster (including Jack-2). All of the characters from Tekken returned (with the exception of Jack, who is replaced by Jack-2 in this game). Tekken 2 is the second game in the Tekken series.
The build-up of fluid under the intact blister (which becomes firm and jelly-like quite rapidly) can put pressure on the underlying dermis, which in turn can reduce perfusion and potentially deepen burns. The management of blister debridement is still controversial however, the authors’ burns service, in line with literature reviews of available evidence, 2 supports the practice of blister debridement for the following reasons: The overall aims of any burn wound dressing, irrespective of the size and depth of the burn, include: It follows, therefore, that different burns require different dressings. When considering the choice of dressing for a burn injury, it is important to think of the size and depth of the burn, and also the aim of the dressing to be applied.Ī superficial epidermal burn (eg sunburn, minor scald, brief flash burn, where there is erythema of the skin but no break in the skin or blistering) does not require a dressing, and application of emollient or moisturiser to cool the intact but painful red skin is appropriate (Figure 2).Ī superficial dermal burn (eg hot water scald, where there is skin blistering over a wet, pink and painful dermis) requires a dressing to absorb fluid, avoid maceration and seal the wound from the outside environment to reduce pain and infection (Figure 3).Ī deep dermal or full-thickness burn (eg prolonged flame, contact burn, where skin under the broken or destroyed blister is less painful and a fixed red or pale white colour due to damaged blood vessels, proteins and nerve endings) will require a dressing to debride and lift the dead skin if it is a small area, or to temporise for surgery if it is larger area (Figure 4).įigure 4. However, good initial management, including dressings, can still prevent the burn from getting larger and deeper while the patient awaits review or transfer. If the zone of coagulation is large, it is likely that the patient will require specialist treatment and surgery. Reproduced with permission from Wound Healing Institute Australia. Jackson’s burn wound model. This model helps to explain the dynamic nature of burn injuries, and how an assessment of the burn at the time of injury can be different in terms of size and depth to an assessment of the same injury 48 hours later. Good first aid and wound management can significantly reduce the need for skin grafting, 1 simply by giving this middle zone the chance to recover, rather than deepen and become part of the zone of coagulation. The middle zone of the burn is called the zone of stasis, which is the target of good burns care, such as effective first aid and dressings. This is a reactive zone of inflammation in response to the injury, which can occur with non-burn injuries such as trauma, and will return to normal within hours of the injury. The outer zone of the burn is called the zone of hyperaemia. This area is dead and nothing any clinician can do will bring it back to life. The inner zone of a burn is the zone of coagulation. When considering burns dressings, it is useful to remember the theory of Jackson’s burn wound model (Figure 1). Schizophrenia predisposes them to a greater risk of suicides and homicides. 8 Often, the content of such messages is negative thus, commanding AVHs are more distressing than commenting ones. Although the percentages differ in various studies, it is assumed that about 30% of patients have command hallucinations and they are seen as the ultimate betrayal of the mind. Specific dimensions of AVHs can give hints to the future likelihood of treatment resistance. 7 Evidence indicates that each patient responds differently to the voices, according to his/her evaluation of them (Table 1), which influences the degree of interventions. 5 AVHs are experienced by approximately 53% of schizophrenia sufferers 6 and are present in 28% of major affective disorders (Goodwin& Jamison. One in four schizophrenia sufferers experiences persistent AVH. Experiencing AVH has serious impact on the quality of life of the affected individual, and is a significant factor in prevalence of suicides among schizophrenic patients. There may be different variables of AVHs. 3 Parallel thinking is a source for thought insertion. Recently, neuro-quantologists have proposed that AVHs may be an objectification of parallel thinking/quantum thinking. According to an integrated model of auditory hallucination (AHs) suggested by Waters et al, 2 AHs arise from an interaction between abnormal neural activation patterns that generate salient auditory signals and top-down mechanisms that include signal detection errors, executive and inhibition deficits, a tapestry of expectations and memories. Auditory hallucinations may be arising because of an interaction between biological predisposition, perceptual and cognitive factors. Thus, patients need help to incorporate it. Derogatory voices are common representations of unconscious self-hatred that cannot stand up to the external world’s logic. AVH is a non-consensual, dynamic and psychologically charged experience and the voices often echo significant emotions. 1 From the patient’s perspective, AVHs are a subjective–objective phenomenon. Schizophrenia sufferers feel like abstract entities with non-animated bodies, often experiencing auditory verbal hallucinations (AVH) due to morbid “objectification” of inner dialogue. Keywords: Schizophrenia, hallucinations, clozapine, voice therapies, rTMS Antipsychotics are also reviewed, revealing that, despite having only modest anti-hallucinatory properties, they are essential for reducing the psychic pain and correcting the underlying psychotic process. In this work, different forms of non-pharmacological therapies are reviewed, including CBT, which has gained popularity as a psychological intervention and an efficacious form of voice therapy. Pharmacotherapy alone may not be the answer to refractory auditory hallucinations and a greater spectrum of non-pharmacological therapies is clearly needed. Recent years have witnessed an interest in the development of various forms of non-pharmacological approaches to addressing this problem alongside pharmacotherapy. Thus, going forward research should focus on the discovery of a derivative of clozapine that is free from the haematological side-effects, as this could lead to remarkable advancements in the treatment of schizophrenia. While clozapine seems to have the maximum anti-hallucinatory effect, some patients remain super-refractory even to clozapine treatment. The current psychotropic medications have only modest anti-hallucinatory effect and the efficacy of non-pharmacological therapies is not well established. Refractory auditory hallucinations warrant evidence-based pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment strategies. "There is in him the stillness of nature. The poems appeared in 1912 with an introduction by the great William Butler Yates, who wrote "These lyrics - which are in the original, my Indians tell me, full of subtlety of rhythm, of untranslatable delicacies of colour, of metrical invention - display in their thought a world I have dreamed of all my life long." His poems were praised by Ezra Pound, and drew the attention of the Nobel Prize committee. His cosmic visions owed much to the lyric tradition of Vaishnava Hinduism and its concepts about the relationship between man and God. The poems were translated into English by Tagore himself. Tagore's reputation as a writer was established in the United States and in England after the publication of "Gitanjali: Song Offerings", in which Tagore tried to find inner calm and explored the themes of divine and human love. His wife died in 1902, followed in 1903 by the death of one of his daughters and in 1907 his younger son. He produced poems, novels, stories, a history of India, textbooks, and treatises on pedagogy. In 1901 Tagore founded a school outside Calcutta, Visva-Bharati, which was dedicated to emerging Western and Indian philosophy and education. This also was something that was hard to accept among his critics and scholars. This was highly productive period in Tagore's life, and earned him the rather misleading epitaph 'The Bengali Shelley.' More important was that Tagore wrote in the common language of the Bengali people and abandoned the ancient form of the Indian language. In East Bengal (now Bangladesh) Tagore collected local legends and folklore and wrote seven volumes of poetry between 18, including Sonar Tari (The Golden Boat), 1894 and Khanika, 1900. His first book, a collection of poems, had been published when he was 17 it was published by Tagore's friend who wanted to surprise him. Together they had two sons and three daughters. In 1883 Tagore married Mrinalini Devi Raichaudhuri. In England Tagore started to compose the poem Bhagna Hridaj (a broken heart). Once he gave a beggar a gold coin - it was more than the beggar had expected and he returned it. Among them were Bengal Academy where he studied Bengali history and culture, and University College, London, where he studied law (but left after a year without completing his studies). He received his early education first from home-tutors and then at a variety of schools. Tagore, the youngest, started to compose poems at the age of eight. All the children contributed significantly to Bengali literature and culture. Servants beat the Tagore children regularly. However, in his "My Reminiscences" Tagore mentions that it was not until the age of ten that he started to wear shoe and socks. The Tagores were pioneers of Bengal's Renaissance and tried to combine traditional Indian culture with Western ideas. Tagore's grandfather had established a huge financial empire for himself, and used it to finance large public projects, such as the Calcutta Medical College. He talked of seeing her body carried through a gate to a place where it was burned - and it was at that moment that he realized that she would never come back. His mother Sarada Devi, died when he was very young. His father was Maharishi Debendranath Tagore, a religious reformer and scholar. Rabindranath Tagore was born in Calcutta in a wealthy and prominent Brahman family. Oh, grant me my prayer that I may never lose touch of the one in the play of the many." (from Gitanjali) When one knows thee, then alien there is none, then no door is shut. Tagore gained a reputation in the West as a mystic originally and that has perhaps mislead many Western readers to ignore his role as a reformer and critic of colonialism. Tagore was awarded a knighthood in 1915, but he surrendered it in 1919 in protest against the Massacre at Amritsar, where British troops killed around 400 Indian demonstrators. A Bengali poet, novelist, educator, Nobel Laureate for Literature. Rabindranath Tagore was considered the greatest writer in modern Indian literature. |
